Our History
My name is Rodney Rogers and I am the owner of Pee Dee Fire and Safety, Inc. of Marion, SC. I hope that you will give me the opportunity to share a little about our company that started in August 1999.
We began with one kitchen exhaust cleaning crew, which consisted of myself and one co-worker. After close to two years of learning the trade and increasing our client base, we were able to add another division to our company. This is when we purchased the Automatic Fire Suppression System business from my friends at Wally's Fire and Safety of Mullins, SC. We were able to double our client base overnight, and it was a natural fit with us already cleaning exhaust hoods. It was then when I realized that a second crew was necessary. Now, with several hundred accounts, we serve an area that includes the counties of: Marion, Dillon, Florence, Darlington, Horry, and Williamsburg.
In June of 2002, Pee Dee Fire and Safety was fortunate enough to acquire a third division which consists of sales and service of portable Fire Extinguishers. This too was purchased from Wally's Fire and Safety, a division that he had grown for twenty years. It was evident by our clients' comments that we had become a "one stop shop" for all fire service needs. We have been able to reduce our client vendor list and enable them to have one telephone call, and one owner responsible for their fire safety needs.
In the last year our company has earned its certification in kitchen hood cleaning from the International Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Association (IKECA), a governing board to set standards in the kitchen exhaust cleaning field. National Fire Protection Agency regulation NFPA-96 states that your exhaust cleaner is to be certified and trained, and we are the only company within seventy-five miles of Marion who is IKECA certified. Our company has always wanted to perform and do the little things to separate us from other so-called "hood cleaners". We feel that being the only company which is certified is not only doing just that but also providing our client the very best job that can be done.
My staff is the greatest quality of my company. We believe that in order to provide quality service we must have quality people in all positions. We have a total of eleven full time employees, and of those eleven, five have earned their four year degree. With a full time secretary your call is always received in a professional manner and directed to the proper technician. We strive for our service to be our contract with our clients; thus, our attrition percentage is very low, as it should be. We know that our clients are concerned with price, but service is their number one priority, and Pee Dee Fire and Safety is dedicated to providing that service.
